Browsers

Alternatives to: Chrome, Safari, Edge

Chrome is made by Google, and therefore is a key part of their spyware offering. Everything you do in Chrome is recorded and stored in your profile. The same goes for Edge and Safari. Use of these browsers helps feed what's called 'first party data' for these companies.

Test your browser: Cover Your Tracks

A great way to find out for yourself if your browser is good for privacy is to use the Cover Your Tracks tool from EFF:

https://coveryourtracks.eff.org

They test for three things: blocking tracking ads, blocking invisible trackers, and protecting you from fingerprinting. (“Browser fingerprinting” is a method of tracking web browsers by the configuration and settings information they make visible to websites, rather than traditional tracking methods such as IP addresses and unique cookies).
