What is the SBMzero certification?

The SBMzero Certification

We will test a business – their website, their app, their entire digitial operation – to establish whether they engage with the Surveillance Business Model.

If we find that they do not, then we award them the SBMzero certification. You will then see the SBMzero (and sometimes the ‘Not Creepy!’) badge on their website/app.

What's involved?

Here’s what companies need to avoid doing in order to be awarded the SBMzero certification:

  1. Collect unnecessary metadata and data while you use their services
  2. Profile you – gathering your data into a persistent data profile
  3. Sell your data/metadata (or your profile, either aggregated or alone), to the Real Time Bidding system
  4. Sell your personal data or metadata to third parties

How do I get my business certified?

The SBMzero certiification is a free service for nonprofit organisations, and a paid service for private companies and corporations.
